The Day I D.I.M. (Did It Myself)
Added at 6:39pm and filed under Offline
Despite the brain-melting heat, today I’ve managed to dismantle the cot and assembled S’s new flat-pack extendable bed. Alone. All by myself. With tools. Without a man. And it wasn’t even all that difficult.
Pfft. And to think I’ve been spending the last twenty-five years being told by the men in my life that this was hard? I say it again – pfft. Pussies.
On the downside, though, I’ve probably started an ugly precedent for myself. If it wasn’t already enough that I’m the breadwinner and M does the cooking, now I’m doing the bloody DIY. If our hitherto gender stereotype roles reverse any further, I’m going to sprout a trouser snake and M’ll have to pick himself up a fluffy pink bra.
V xx

Oh wow, the little guy has outgrown the cot and is ready for a bed already? Next he’ll be bringing girlfriends home ;)

Hehe, seems like men are becoming more and more useless these days. :P
Nah, really. I couldn’t live a day if I didn’t have J, so at least he is needed. But living alone has taught me a lot of things I couldn’t do when I still lived at home.

Oh yes, I know how you feel! I assembled (all by myself) my Tony Little Limited Edition Gazelle, which was medium in difficulty. The parts were crazy heavy, but HEY I still did it! Who needs men? Bah, not me :)

Hey, welcome to the club, lol
Doesn’t it feel good though to be able to achieve that?

Hahaha cool! I also remember the first time I put something together myself: a new dresser from Ikea, the second week away at college. Took me 3 days to finish, but hey, I did it! And it worked and didn’t fall apart and everything. I was so proud lol.
Go you! *cheers you on*

I’m the “supervisor” when it comes to putting together things in this household. Chris is the type to throw the instructions aside and use trial and error to assemble. I get to jump in when he’s making a massive mistake and turn pieces of wood around or switch out left and right pieces so he gets it right.
