The Bit With The Excerpt

An excerpt of my novel - still currently untitled - is now available for download. So if you’ve always wondered what the fuss was about - and if, indeed, it’s worth the fuss at all - I urge you to download it. In return all I ask for is your gut reaction to it; either here in the comments or via my contact form if you’d rather do it more privately.

A password is required to access the downloads page. This isn’t because I’m a douche, but just because I’d like to know who’s accessing it. I don’t care if I don’t know you or you’ve never contacted me before in your life, or even if we know each other in ‘real life’; providing you’ve never threatened the life of me or my child, you’re welcome to read - positively encouraged, in fact. Just comment to request it. :)

What a brave little lambchop you are - I take it that I’ve seen this incarnation of the prologue before? Or shall I download and read again?

Well done you, I know how scary this must be!

There’s been some considerable tweakage since your version I think, but not K’s?

And yes. I am SHITTING MYSELF. I’m just trying to get over the humiliation of sharing my work.

Can I read it? For my own sanity I’m begging you, I’m an English student who is approaching her exams and it would be nice to read something different than ‘Rape of the Lock’ and ‘Moll Flanders’. Plus, I’m, y’know, nosey :)

I don’t think it’s quite Moll Flanders, but have emailed you the pass!

I would be highly intrigued to read, and suitably comment upon afterward! Bah, must sit tight for the password first though! ;-)

    How exciting!

(Don’t worry, I am always this weird. It’s all part of my charm. *laughs*)

Oh, may I have a read please?

Also, is there something wrong with your RSS reader? It’s been showing as ‘empty’ for the last couple of days now… or is that just me?

Emz, Teesee - password has been sent. :)

I’d say that it’s worth it Tee, but I think I may be wrong. You can be the judge though!

To anyone/everyone reading this post. Get that god damn password and read this! Honestly, it’s well worth the use of installing a PDF reader and downloading the file.

Just do it already! *shakes finger* ;-)

Vixx, I realise this is going to show in your inbox first, I’m just about to email you.

Bottom line? A truly fabulous read! So much so that I’m now desperately anxious to read more. MORE I say!

Grr. Care to make a girl happy by editing it, Vixx? *smiles in embarrassment*

Oh goodness, make preparations before reading my email - it’s about six million miles long! :-/

Must be full of goop or something…

Deary me, I should be somehow punished for my rambling! Is there a ramblers anonymous group I should be joining?! :-P

I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. After downloading adobe my boyfriend suddenly contracted a really bad case of man flu (aw that sounds mean, he is really ill) and this is the first time in two nights I’ve had some time to myself. I’ll let you know what I think soon. :)

The people who have yet to respond are scaring me. It’s like . . . wow. How long does it take to properly sugarcoat a response??

I so want to smack you for saying that! In a non-threatening kinda way… *winks*

Have more faith and belief that your work is better than the need to ’sugarcoat’ responses! You silly mare! ;-)

You bet your butt you have! *grin*

Only kiddin’ with yer, wee little lass!

Although it does make you wonder… if people have taken the time to a) ask for the password then b) downloaded it, why can’t they c) give some fookin’ (did she just swear?! feedback!

And no, it’s not a lot to ask before you say such a thing! It’s damn right courtesy in my opinion! You’ve shared it with ‘em - so they should share with you!

C’mon guys and girlies… give her some love, eh?

Else I’ll set me wee little pixies on yer - ter feast on yer ear lobes!

Ok I finally found some time to read the excerpt. Wow. You really have a knack for dialogue. And for converying emotions in actions, a look, a thought. I really warmed to Will and Charlie, even though I wanted to slap her and shout “Don’t let him go!”

The sentences were quite long but I felt it worked by drawing out the scene of them breaking up. Oh and what happened last night? I want to know!

I love reading inner dialogue, I find it helps me understand more about the character than any narrtor could tell me. So lots more of that please :)

    Thank you for sharing.
