The Day With Games v Girls

This article at GamesRadar has kicked up a bit of a stink. As a gamer who coincidentally also wears a bra, I’m not entirely certain what to make of it as of yet. Instinctively I think it’s just a laugh, a bit tongue in cheek, but peel that back a bit and the post-feminist in me bristles a bit. What about you? Gamer or not, bra-wearer or not, what’s your take?

I actually met two guys from GamesRadar at the Dead Space event and they were cool, kind, funny guys. Apparently their ex-pat boss went nuts over a Bagpuss VHS tape for reasons which can only be understood by British people of a certain age. I am of that age.

To be honest, I don’t think there’s any way of taking that article seriously at all. To do so would be a bit overly sensitive, I think - though I do agree that it’s still somewhat annoying, especially given a good proportion of readers probably don’t know better. But overall, I’d say that’s it’s definitely just a bit of fun. :)

Nonetheless, Vixx, I think you and I should get together and embrace the spirit of the article, and and pen a Games vs. Guys as a tongue-in-cheek retort. ;)

Now THAT sounds like an idea . . .

And a girl gamer blog? Zine? Hmmmm.

Is the article supposed to be funny? I found it incredibly dull. Then again, a Games vs. Guys article sounds like a great idea.

I got bored half way through. That pretty much sums up what I thought of their writing content (and style for that matter).

If they are aiming to be funny, they’re not; if they are aiming to be serious, they are funny.

Vixx, we should definitely do it. We should also then send our Games vs. Guys article to GamesRadar and get them to publish it. ;)

Clearly written by a guy who doesn’t get out much. It’s too dull to be offensive.

Ugh. It’s… trying too hard and still not making it. Like, really? You are trying to decide if a game or a girl is better in the overall scheme of life? I didn’t even finish it to see what he decided - I think it would have been annoying either way.

Not funny. I certanily hope the writer was just trying to be funny since as it is now, it sounds like he has never even talked to a female let alone dated one.

A Games vs Guys article would be funny, and it should definitely be sent to GamesRadar too!

I didn’t finish it either, but I didn’t really find it offensive. They were trying to be funny, I think, but failed miserably.

You guys should definitely do a response article!

I tried to read it all the way through but ended up skim reading it cos it was dull. Not a very interesting article. Although the naked girl holding a SNES to her lady bits was quite nice.

I think you girls should do a games vs guy article and see what you come up with. Who would be the winners?

    That’s right, it be games.

Funnily enough, my hubby didn’t mind that bit, either. :p
