The Day With Hello? Anyone there?

Wow. I wasn’t wrong when I asked where everyone had gone. I mean don’t get me wrong – I know this is my fault. I disappeared for weeks without so much as a warning, and then I just swan back into your life like an character from an Eartha Kitt song. But I am still here. Honest. I won’t leave you again, baby. Give me a chance to make it up to you. Talk to me.
Is it that I’m being boring? I’m sorry. It’s just that, seriously – do you care that I showered today? Or drank some tea? Or put on clean pants? Because if I don’t talk to you about TV programmes, that’s kind of all I’m left with. My life has been reduced to two screens – my TV and my computer – and the latter only sporadically – so I clearly have a small sphere of influence and interest here.
I did have an outing these week, actually. Two, in fact. One was an outing to a garden centre – awesome – but the second was to see Russell Brand live. I’m kind of late to Brand; we’ve been aware of him for some time, like a lingering fart in a room, but I’d always been a bit nonplussed. A chance encounter with his Wonderland programme one night last year completely turned me round. So when the tickets came on sale for his Scandelous tour, we snapped them up and I didn’t regret it. Post operative discomfort aside, we had so much fun – he was fucking hilarious. Having caused so much of the news in recent months, he had plenty of material to work with.
But other than that? I’ve been stuck in the house. I’ve been signed off work for another two weeks, and have a hospital appointment this week in which I hope he’ll tell me I can drive and go back to work. I’m not confident.
And go back to work I must. Computer access, boredom and a healthy disposal income are not comfortable bedfellows. What I’ve saved in lunches out and petrol this month I’ve blown on expensive, obscure (but yummy) additions to my Silent Hill collection.

I gotta say I’m not a fan of Brand’s comedy. To me he tries to be wacky, but there’s nothing unusual about his sense of humour. Although sometimes he can make me laugh.

I know what you mean about Brand, Grax, but I actually think he’s incredibly quick witted. I think that’s the appeal for me. A quick mind does a lot for me. ;)
Karen – the only film I’ve seen him in is Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I enjoyed that.

I’ve seen him on Ponderland and he did make me laugh, but then I read his book – well, I read about a quarter or it, if that – and chucked it because he just came across as a bit of a self-obsessed w*nker.
